When should I use a Single-Element Contact Transducer instead of a Dual-Element Corrosion Probe?
Use a Single-Element Contact Transducer (0°) when performing general flaw detection, searching for internal laminations, or measuring thick, smooth forgings and billets where maximum energy transfer along a straight acoustic path is required. Use a Dual-Element Pitch-Catch Probe when inspecting in-service pipes and tanks with rough interior pitting or corrosion, as dual-element designs are superior at receiving scattered back-wall reflections.
How do I replace the protective membrane on an SLF Series transducer?
When the elastomeric membrane on a Dakota SLF Transducer wears out, unscrew the retaining ring, apply a small drop of couplant or oil onto the crystal face, place a new membrane snugly across the face without trapping air bubbles, and secure it tightly with the retaining ring.
What connector types are available on Dakota single-element contact probes?
Depending on your instrument's front-panel receptacles, Dakota single-element contact probes are available with BNC connectors (common on many flaw detectors), LEMO 00 connectors, or miniature Microdot connectors (standard on Fingertip FC / FCSL probes).
